Is a vac ban for all games?

If I am VAC banned on CS:GO, can I still play CS:S. without a problem? Any game where VAC is securing the game, you won't be able to play. Any game that is single player or played on a LAN is okay, but it must not be secured by VAC.

How long does it take for a vac ban to show up?
It is only after a delay of "days or even weeks" that the account is permanently banned from "VAC Secure" servers for that game, possibly along with other games that use the same engine (e.g. Valve's Source games, GoldSrc games, Unreal Engine games). Valve never discloses which cheat was detected.
